How our price data works

How DSP makes dental supply prices easier to compare

Supplier prices can be confusing. We show where our prices come from, how we compare different package sizes, and why some products do not appear in the public catalogue.

01

Public prices and practice prices stay separate

A public price is a Canadian market price that is not tied to a practice account. A practice price comes from a signed-in supplier account and may include a deal made for that practice.

02

What a product needs before we publish it

We do not publish every listing we collect. A public product needs a clear name, a supplier SKU or manufacturer code, a package size, a package unit, and a current public price in Canadian dollars.

  • We saw the price within the last five days
  • The price has not passed its end date
  • The supplier has not marked the product unavailable
  • The product belongs to a public supplier or comparison
  • The product and package can be identified
  • The price is not tied to a practice account

If the price becomes old, the page may still work for someone with the link. We remove it from Google’s sitemap until the price is fresh again.

03

How we compare different package sizes

A box price alone can be misleading. One supplier may sell 100 units while another sells 500. When the package size is clear, DSP calculates the cost of one unit.

Unit pricecurrent package price ÷ number of units

We use a sale price only while the sale appears to be active. Public prices do not include tax, shipping, rebates, special contracts, or a private account deal. Check those items before you order.

04

How products become a comparison

A public comparison needs at least two products from at least two suppliers. It also needs a clear title, category, and package type. Automatic matches must pass a strong data check. A curated group must be connected to a named public contributor.

We label each page based on what it really shows. We do not call a broad group “one product” just to get a better Google result.

05

What “curated” means

Most supplier product pages are made from data. They show the source and update date, but they do not claim a dentist reviewed the product. A curator’s name appears only when a real person made or reviewed the comparison.

Curated means the person organized the listings. It does not mean DSP or the curator is telling you which clinical product to use.

06

What you still need to check

A price can change after we see it. Stock, sales, tax, shipping, account deals, and package details may also change. Products that look similar may work differently. Always check the final item and price with the supplier.

  • Look at the date beside the price
  • Confirm the manufacturer code and package
  • Read sale dates and minimum order rules
  • Check product fit and instructions
  • Tell us when a page does not match the supplier
07

How we fix errors

We may correct a product code, package, image, comparison, contributor, or price. Important visible changes update the date. Simply checking the same price again does not make the page look newly published.

Email support@dentalsupplyprices.com with the page link, supplier, SKU, what looks wrong, and a reliable source. We may keep uncertain information out of Google while we check it.
